DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
The Director of Human Resources provides direct influence over organizational effectiveness, talent strategy, and workforce planning that support the Company's mission, values, and business objectives. This role oversees key HR functions, including consultation and guidance, talent acquisition/recruitment, employee relations, HR policies and procedures, performance management, compensation/payroll and benefits, HRIS, and compliance. The Director leads initiatives to drive a high performing, engaged, and resilient workforce while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and legal requirements. The Director articulates the value of human resources to internal stakeholders and ensures the timely delivery of responsive, ethical, and forward-thinking people practices consistent with the Company's strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
- Lead the HR function throughout organization, aligning people strategy with business goals and field service operations
- Advise on organizational effectiveness, talent strategy, and workforce planning.
- Ensure optimization of onboarding procedures throughout the organization.
- Develops, implements, and ensures HR policies, procedures, and programs reflect best practices and regulatory compliance while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Handle complex employee relations issues and disputes while ensuring compliance with State and Federal employment law.
- Consult with Leadership as appropriate on personnel matters and workforce issues.
- Develop and implement talent acquisition / recruiting strategies that align with forecasted needs; managing staffing efforts at all levels.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance, including coaching, career development, and disciplinary actions.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of compensation structures and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent.
- Evaluate, develop, and administer a comprehensive benefits program that is both seamless and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a key leader for the organization-wide ERP implementation, providing strategic guidance and subject matter expertise on HR processes and maintaining a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs. Consistently drive better use of HR systems to improve data, workflows, and process efficiency.
- Build leadership capability and succession across the business.
- Manage the budget and other financial measures of the Human Resources department.
- Act in accordance with the Company’s core values.
- Remains up to date on the business / industry environment including trends, drivers, and key issues.
- Union / Non-Union experience preferred.
- Manage HR for the entire workforce with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and performance.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline is required
- Master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of related human resources experience required, ideally in field services, industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments
- 5+ years supervisory experience required
- SHRM-SCP/SHRM-CP or SPHR/PHR certification required
- Multi-state operations experience strongly preferred
- Solid knowledge of employment and labor laws
