Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Vice President of Human Resources to lead the HR function across all locations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s people strategy while managing the tactical execution of HR programs and compliance. The ideal candidate is a proactive and trusted leader with deep expertise in employee relations, talent strategy, compliance, and union environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6 HR professionals supporting multi-state operations
- Align HR strategies with business objectives, driving a culture of performance and accountability
- Partner with executive leadership to drive organizational effectiveness and workforce planning
HR Operations & Compliance
- Oversee HRIS management across all functional areas including payroll, onboarding, benefits, recruiting, and compliance
- Manage state and federal labor law compliance, including COBRA administration and multi-state terminations
- Ensure proper handling and protection of confidential company IP (e.g., non-compete, non-disclosure, confidentiality agreements)
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Lead recruitment strategy for office, management, production, and maintenance roles
- Optimize applicant tracking systems and the full recruitment lifecycle
- Oversee the evaluation and onboarding process to ensure an exceptional candidate experience and smooth integration into the organization
Union & Employee Relations
- Serve as the lead for all union negotiations and labor relations
- Foster positive relationships between management and employees through clear communication, policy guidance, and effective resolution of employee concerns
Total Rewards & Benefits
- Direct benefits strategy, including communication, vendor management, and annual renewals
- Lead compensation and benefits planning in alignment with market trends and business goals
Risk Management & Safety
- Partner with operations and legal to oversee workers’ compensation, safety compliance, and liability exposure
- Collaborate on risk mitigation strategies and annual insurance renewals
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including multi-state operations
- Proven success in a unionized environment and labor contract negotiations
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance practices
- Expertise with HRIS systems and applicant tracking platforms
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred
