Overview
We’re looking for a Human Resources Director to lead HR for a growing medical diagnostics and laboratory technology organization supporting approximately 250 employees across the US and Canada. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role sits on the leadership team and oversees a broad mix of HR responsibilities across manufacturing, field service, engineering, corporate, and remote employee populations.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone comfortable balancing strategy with execution — from employee relations, compliance, and performance management to benefits, payroll oversight, and organizational development. The environment is lean, fast-paced, and highly visible, with real opportunity to help shape HR processes, leadership development, and company culture as the organization continues to grow.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all core HR functions including employee relations, compliance, investigations, performance management, compensation, benefits, payroll oversight, recruiting, and organizational development
- Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership while supporting frontline operations across manufacturing, field service, and corporate teams
- Oversee annual performance review, bonus, merit increase, and goal-setting processes across the organization
- Manage complex employee relations matters, investigations, workers compensation, LOA/FMLA, and employment law compliance
- Partner with brokers and vendors on annual healthcare renewals, benefits strategy, and employee communications
- Support onboarding, engagement, retention, pulse surveys, and internal communications initiatives
- Help build scalable HR infrastructure, manager training programs, policies, and leadership development processes
- Support a workforce that includes onsite, remote, hourly, salaried, and field-based employees across the US and Canada
- Lead and mentor a lean HR team while helping shape future organizational structure and HR operations
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including Director-level or equivalent ownership
- Strong California employment law and employee relations experience
- Background supporting operationally complex organizations with a mix of manufacturing, field service, engineering, and corporate employees
- Hands-on experience managing investigations, compliance, workers compensation, LOA/FMLA, performance management, and payroll oversight
- Experience operating in a medically regulated, healthcare, diagnostics, manufacturing, life sciences, or related environment strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in a lean, fast-paced organization where leaders own both strategy and execution
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence leaders while remaining approachable to employees across all levels of the organization
- Experience supporting multi-site or multi-state organizations; Canada exposure is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree required; SHRM or SPHR certification preferred
