JOB SUMMARY
A respected Critical Access Hospital in Dillon, MT is seeking an experienced Interim HR Director to provide steady leadership and operational oversight while the organization conducts a search for a permanent HR leader. This interim leader will guide the HR team, support department leaders, and ensure continuity across all HR functions during a period of transition.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned HR professional with healthcare and/or CAH experience who thrives in hands‑on environments and can quickly build trust, assess needs, and implement solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership and oversight of all HR operations, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits, compliance, and performance management.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team during the transition period.
- Assess current HR processes, identify gaps, and implement short‑term improvements to stabilize operations.
- Support department managers with coaching, corrective action guidance, and workforce planning.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, hospital policies, and accreditation standards.
- Maintain positive employee relations and foster a supportive, solutions‑focused HR environment.
- Assist with the transition to the permanent HR Director once selected.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience as an HR Director, HR Manager, or senior HR leader in a hospital, healthcare, or Critical Access Hospital setting.
- Strong working knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change, stabilize operations, and build trust quickly.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Dillon, MT for the duration of the interim assignment.
- Prior interim, consulting, or contract leadership experience is a plus.
