Voodoo Doughnut is looking for a Human Resources Director to join our Portland team!
Ready to help shape the future of a growing, iconic brand? We’re looking for a Human Resources Director to lead our people strategy across a multi-state team of 450+ employees. This is a high-impact role where you will build culture, scale teams, and create the systems that power our next phase of growth.
You will work closely with executive leadership to keep our people strategy aligned with where we are headed, while making sure day-to-day HR runs smoothly across all locations.
What You Will Do
- Lead and execute our company-wide people strategy
- Partner with the CEO, CFO, and Operations leaders on org design, workforce planning and leadership development
- Oversee recruiting across high-volume field roles and corporate positions
- Support new store openings with hiring, onboarding, training, payroll, and compliance
- Build and scale onboarding, training, and leadership development programs
- Manage HR systems and ensure data is accurate and useful
- Lead compensation and benefits strategy, including benchmarking and open enrollment
- Partner with Finance on labor planning and workforce costs
- Ensure payroll is accurate and compliant
- Lead employee relations, including performance management and conflict resolution
- Coach leaders and support team development at all levels
- Maintain compliance with employment laws across multiple states
- Track and share HR metrics and workforce insights
- Hire, mentor, and grow the HR team
What You Bring
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills
- Solid knowledge of HR best practices and employment law
- Experience leading HR in a multi-unit, multi-state environment
- Comfort working with HR systems; ADP Workforce Now is a plus
- Analytical mindset and ability to use data to drive decisions
- Experience supporting hourly and field-based teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles
- Background in retail, restaurant, or similar environments strongly preferred
- Proven experience in employee relations, coaching, and org development

This role is based on-site in our Portland headquarters, with occasional U.S. travel and some flexibility outside standard business hours.
