AABR has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced HR leader to manage day-to-day HR operations across our multi-site, OPWDD-regulated organization. As Director of Human Resources, you'll partner closely with the CHRO to drive workforce strategy, lead employee relations, and support program leaders in building a stable, high-performing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on execution, values consistency, and brings sound judgment to complex employee situations.
What you'll do:
- Lead daily HR operations and ensure consistent application of policies across programs.
- Manage employee relations, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and workplace concerns in a union environment.
- Coach and guide managers on performance management and HR matters.
- Monitor workforce trends — turnover, attendance, vacancies — and partner with program leaders to improve stability.
- Oversee HRIS data integrity, compliance with NY employment laws, and OPWDD regulatory standards.
- Supervise, coach, and develop the HR team to drive accountability and operational excellence.
What we're looking for
- 7–9 years of progressive HR experience, including 3–5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- 3+ years of employment investigation experience
- Strong background in employee relations and HR operations across multi-site environments
- Working knowledge of New York employment laws
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred
- Experience in OPWDD, nonprofit, healthcare, or human services settings preferred
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred
