Micro-Cap Solutions is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a fast-growing manufacturing & construction organization seeking a Director of Human Resources to build and lead the HR function.
Our client is a rapidly scaling, project-driven business operating across fabrication, field, and office environments. The company has experienced significant growth and is investing in leadership to build the infrastructure, processes, and team needed to support continued expansion - including future acquisitions and organizational integration efforts.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for owning the full HR function, including recruiting, employee relations, compliance, performance management, and workforce planning.
The Director of HR will partner closely with leadership to align people strategy with business objectives, while also executing day-to-day HR operations in a fast-paced environment.
This role requires someone who can operate both strategically and tactically - building systems and processes while staying close to the business and workforce.
Key Responsibilities
HR Leadership & Strategy
- Own, build, and lead the company’s HR function, including policies, processes, and overall people strategy
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning, org design, and operational alignment
HR Operations & Generalist Functions
- Own day-to-day HR generalist responsibilities including employee relations, onboarding, policy administration, performance support, and HR compliance
- Ensure consistent execution of HR processes across the organization while building scalable systems as the company grows
Talent & Recruiting
- Build scalable hiring processes and pipelines to support growth
- Lead recruiting efforts across shop, field, and office roles
Employee Relations & Performance
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on employee relations, coaching, and performance management
- Develop and implement performance management and leadership development initiatives
Compensation, Compliance & Operations
- Oversee compensation structures, benefits, and HRIS systems
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR best practices
- Partner with accounting on payroll and labor planning
M&A & Organizational Integration
- Support acquisition activity through workforce due diligence, onboarding, and integration of acquired teams
- Help align HR processes, policies, and culture across newly integrated businesses
Culture & Engagement
- Drive employee engagement, retention, and workforce stability initiatives
- Support and reinforce a safety-focused, accountable culture across the organization
Experience & Profile
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments
- Experience building or scaling HR functions in a growing company
- Exposure to M&A, integration, or multi-site workforce environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and employee relations
- Experience supporting hourly or field-based workforces preferred
- Hands-on operator with the ability to balance strategy and execution
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
