Pattillo, Brown & Hill, L.L.P. is growing, and we’re seeking a legally grounded and strategically minded Human Resources Director to lead the firm’s Human Resource functions across multiple offices.
This role serves as the firm’s primary authority on employment law, compliance, governance, and risk. You will advise partners and leadership, ensure our employment practices are consistent and defensible, and build structured systems that support long-term growth.

What You’ll Do
Lead Employment Law, Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws
- Monitor legislative and regulatory updates; proactively adjust policies and practices
- Serve as primary advisor on employment-related/legal matters
- Partner with outside counsel on investigations, claims, and regulatory inquiries
- Establish defensible documentation standards for hiring, discipline, and terminations
- Own and maintain the employee handbook and HR policy framework
- Manage all applicable Department of Labor postings
Oversee Compensation, Classification & Structural Integrity
- Maintain job descriptions, classifications, and FLSA determinations
- Support development and governance of salary and compensation guidelines
- Conduct market benchmarking and internal equity reviews
- Provide structured recommendations on promotions, merit increases, and pay decisions
- Ensure compensation practices are documented, consistent, and legally compliant
- Support annual benefits renewal and open enrollment planning, including reviewing options, preparing employee-facing materials and guiding on impacts throughout the firm
- Coordinate and oversee employee benefits programs in partnership with the controller, including health, dental, vision, retirement and other firm sponsored plans
- Ensure benefits policies and practices are compliant, consistently applied and clearly communicated to employees
Guide Employee Relations & Investigations
- Lead and document internal investigations with discretion and professionalism
- Provide recommendations to leadership on corrective action and risk mitigation
- Coach partners and managers on performance management and documentation standards
- Identify patterns of concern and recommend proactive policy or training updates
- Lead new hire training related to the employee manual, professionalism, dress code, and other relevant matters
Strengthen HR Systems, Controls & Reporting
- Oversee secure, compliant HR recordkeeping and personnel file standards
- Develop workforce metrics and dashboards for leadership visibility
- Evaluate and optimize HR systems to support governance and multi-office consistency
- Partner with leadership on integrated reporting that connects people data with firm performance
- Develop and maintain CPE tracking systems and controls, coordinating with Partners to schedule and document required training
- Track, maintain, and report on Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements for the firm, ensuring professionals meet applicable licensing, state board and firm required training
Support Leadership & Firmwide Standards
- Provide training and guidance to managers on documentation and compliance standards
- Support succession planning and internal talent discussions
- Ensure initiatives are supported by consistent and fair HR practices
- Advise leadership on organizational changes, structure adjustments, and workforce planning
Who You Are
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience with significant focus on compliance and employee relations
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law, wage and hour regulations, EEO, and leave requirements
- Experienced conducting investigations and advising senior leadership
- Confident influencing partners and executives in a professional services environment
- Analytical, structured, and detail-oriented
- Measured, discreet, and steady in high-stakes situations
What You’ve Accomplished
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or similar field
- Experience operating as a senior-level or HR leader
- Demonstrated success building compliant frameworks in a growing organization
- Experience partnering with legal counsel on employment matters
- Professional services, accounting, legal, or financial industry experience preferred
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification strongly preferred
