Responsibilities
Reporting into the Sr. HR Director, Airfoils segment of Howmet Engines Systems, the HR Director will have the primary responsibility as a strategic partner responsible for formulating partnerships across the Whitehall Campus to deliver value added initiatives that support the business goals. The role supports the 6 sites, Howmet Research Center, and the HQ population on the Whitehall campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates with senior leadership to understand and develop the Segment’s goals and strategy related to people operations including but not limited to; staffing, recruiting, retention, labor relations, and talent management. Drive Talent Factory and Hoshin initiatives.
- Develop and track execution of the BU Strategic HR Plan, ensuring robust alignment with business priorities, group and corporate guidelines.
- Translate the business needs into HR strategic and operational plans establishing key metrics and performance tracking processes.
- Responsible for leading and overseeing activities and initiatives such as Turnover, Talent Management, and Community Partnership for the sites.
- Identifies internal and external best practices and shares across the BU. Continually assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
- Establish credibility throughout the organization with management and the employees in order to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations. Consistently partner with legal department to assess risk and impact of decisions to company.
- Interfaces with Union leadership, unionized workforce and bargaining committees regarding labor issues.Leads or participates as needed in grievance procedures and contract negotiations.
- Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with internal policies and guidelines, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Guide plant locations on enhancing Howmet’s relationship with government at various levels, to inform government about the issues important to the Company and to help influence government decision making in order to support business objectives.
- Leads Howmet Foundation and Community Framework activities across the campus. Guide and support plant locations to develop and align community strategy with key business priorities to drive Howmet brand and employee engagement.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in a Business discipline, Organizational Development, or HR related field of study
- Minimum of 10 years Human Resource experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Sr. HR and Leadership role/capacity
- Minimum of five (5) years HR experience within a manufacturing environment
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience working in Union environments
- Previous experience in aerospace industry is preferred
- Graduate Degree is preferred
