Responsibilities
Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, the Director, Employee and Labor Relations oversees and manages the company's employee and labor relations programs, policies, and procedures.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- The Director, Employee and Labor Relations maintains good communication and a positive relationship with employees and management to promote employee satisfaction.
- Maintains and builds upon satisfactory labor-management relations, interprets the collective bargaining agreements, administers grievance procedures including arbitrations, and assists all levels of management on labor matters.
- The Director, Employee and Labor Relations partners with legal counsel to investigate and ensure proper responses to EEOC charges, employment related litigation, etc.
- Administers the company’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy. Develops, maintains and tracks the company’s performance to the Affirmative Action Program. Prepares and files EEO-1 report annually and maintains other required records and reports.
- The Director, Employee and Labor Relations coordinates employment related compliance in terms of I-9 Forms, drug testing, and records management.
- Develops and applies corporate policies regarding employment practices to ensure compliance with the state, federal and local regulations.
- Participates in field audits such as OFCCP, FLSA, etc. as required.
- Ensures that all employee records contain the required documentation and information to comply with current policies and applicable state, federal and local regulations.
- Manages vendor relationships with firms that provide outsourced employee and labor relations services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations or Business Administration required. Master’s Degree for an accredited university preferred.
- Ten (10) years’ experience employee and labor relations. Certification (SPHR) is a plus.
- Broad experience in regulatory compliance systems including strong knowledge of employment law, federal, state and local labor regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and EEO regulations.
- Ability to enhance the workplace and collaborate with others to ensure the company is the employer of choice in our industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of staffing policies and procedures is required.
- High energy level and superior interpersonal abilities.
- Forward thinking, creative with high ethical standards.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing vendor and client relationships.
- Must be able to research information and analyze data and possess the ability to use judgment to recommend plans of action that are consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or government law.
- Demonstrated ability to seek out and suggest alternate procedures to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence and present to senior leadership or respond to inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies as required.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships both internally and externally.
- Must have a sound working knowledge of statistical concepts, methods and data collection procedures.
- Frequent travel with overnight stays.
