Position SummarySunrise Park Resort is seeking a strategic and hands-on Human Resources Director to lead all HR functions for Arizona’s premier mountain resort destination. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the HR Director will shape organizational culture, strengthen employee engagement, ensure regulatory compliance, and support both seasonal and year-round workforce operations.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for aligning people strategy with business objectives while honoring the values and heritage of the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Strategy
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and department heads.
- Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with Sunrise’s operational and cultural goals.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance workplace culture.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Oversee recruitment for seasonal and year-round roles across all departments.
- Develop workforce planning strategies for peak operational seasons.
- Lead onboarding, retention, and succession planning initiatives.
Employee Relations & Organizational Development
- Improve employee engagement, morale, and performance.
- Coach managers and develop leadership capability at all levels.
- Investigate complaints, grievances, and workplace incidents.
- Promote conflict resolution and professional conduct.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and tribal labor laws and regulations.
- Manage worker’s compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
- Oversee safety program alignment with operational standards.
- Maintain and revise employee policies and procedures.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
- Administer employee insurance and benefit plans.
- Oversee payroll operations and compliance.
- Support compensation planning and workforce budgeting.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Operations, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive HR leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of labor and employment laws and regulations.
- Experience in hospitality, resort, recreation, or service industries preferred.
- Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Experience with HRIS systems and multi-platform business software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical & Environmental Requirements- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to move throughout the resort property in all seasons.
- Bend, twist, and navigate uneven terrain.
- Comfortable hiking on mountain terrain, riding ski lifts, and operating ATV/UTV.
- Ability to work outdoors in winter and summer conditions (snow, rain, wind, heat).
- Base elevation: 9,200 feet.
