Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Human Resources Director, based in Portsmouth, VA. The Human Resources Director will lead HR operations, including developing and enforcing HR policies, managing employee relations, overseeing performance management processes, and ensuring compliance with labor and employment laws. Day-to-day responsibilities include fostering a positive workplace culture, addressing employee concerns, and ensuring alignment between organizational goals and personnel strategies.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Human Resources operations, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, and employee engagement
- Knowledge of HR Policies and practices to ensure effective policy implementation and compliance
- Experience in Employee Relations, fostering a positive workplace environment, and addressing workforce concerns
- Strong understanding of Performance Management processes and strategies
- Comprehensive knowledge of Labor and Employment Law to ensure policy and legal compliance
- Effective leadership and communication skills to collaborate across teams and guide HR initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information and navigate sensitive situations
