Executive Director of Human Resources
Location: Headquarter office (Old Saybrook, CT)
The Executive Director of Human Resources will oversee all aspects of HR strategy, operations, and compliance for Telyon. This role will partner closely with executive leadership to support company growth, strengthen organizational culture, ensure legal compliance, and build scalable HR systems that support both field and corporate teams. This position will directly manage an HR Manager and support the growth of the broader HR function.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on workforce planning and organizational design.
- Directly manage and mentor an HR Manager while building scalable HR infrastructure.
- Oversee the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, performance management, and retention.
- Design and implement employee training and development programs across departments.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, high-performance company culture.
- Oversee compensation, benefits, and HR operations across multiple states.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Support field leadership and supervisors working with field employees on jobsites.
- Optimize HR systems and processes to support a growing workforce.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred) or relevant experience considered.
- 11+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership at the Director or Senior Manager level.
- Experience leading HR teams with at least one direct report.
- Demonstrated experience supporting employees in varied working environments, including field employees on jobsites.
- Strong state compliance experience across multiple states, including policy development and audits.
- Proven success implementing employee training programs and structured onboarding processes.
- Experience in construction, energy, manufacturing, or project-based industries strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state employment laws and HR compliance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification a plus.
