Position Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced HR Business Partner to serve as a dedicated talent advisor to our business leaders. This role will have a primary emphasis on managing the end-to-end talent acquisition lifecycle for our New York office and our strategic hiring initiatives in China. The successful candidate will be more than a recruiter; they will be a strategic partner who understands the nuanced talent landscape for investment and operational roles in both the competitive New York market and the complex China region. You will be responsible for developing and executing hiring strategies that identify, attract, and secure top-tier talent in a highly competitive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Talent Acquisition & Business Partnership (70%)
- Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage the entire recruitment process for roles across Investment (e.g., Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts, Quantitative Researchers) and Business Operations (e.g., Risk, Technology, Finance) in both New York and China.
- Hiring Strategy Development: Partner with senior leadership to understand business objectives and translate them into actionable, region-specific hiring plans.
- Candidate Sourcing & Pipelining: Proactively build and maintain a robust network of passive and active candidates through direct sourcing, executive search, networking, and referrals, with a specialized focus on the Chinese market.
- Market Intelligence: Act as a subject matter expert on talent markets, compensation benchmarks, and competitive intelligence for both New York and China, providing insights to influence hiring decisions.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong, trusted relationships with hiring managers, coaching them on interview techniques, assessment, and offer negotiation strategies.
- Candidate Experience: Ensure a seamless, high-touch, and positive candidate experience that reflects our firm's values and brand.
HR Business Partnering (30%)
- Serve as a strategic HR point of contact for assigned teams, providing guidance on performance management, employee development, and organizational effectiveness.
- Support the integration and onboarding of new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the firm.
- Contribute to global HR projects such as compensation reviews, talent management, and diversity & inclusion initiatives.
- Navigate and manage cross-cultural nuances, particularly between the US and China, to foster an inclusive and effective global team environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5-8 years of progressive experience in a combination of strategic talent acquisition and HR business partnering, preferably within a top-tier hedge fund, investment bank, asset management firm, or a high-growth technology/financial services company.
- Proven, hands-on experience hiring for New York & China would be highly recommended. This includes deep familiarity with the local talent pool, compensation structures, regulatory environment, and cultural nuances. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese & English are a significant advantage.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting for highly technical and competitive roles within finance (e.g., Quant, Fundamental Equity, Macro, etc.).
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence senior-level stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and a keen interest in the financial markets and investment processes.
- High level of discretion, integrity, and ability to handle confidential information.
- Self-directed, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
