At Miraval, we create transformative wellbeing experiences for our guests and our colleagues alike. Our Human Resources team plays a key role in cultivating an inclusive, engaging workplace rooted in care, balance, and purpose. The Assistant Director of Human Resources (AHRD) is a highly visible, hands-on leader who partners closely with resort leadership to drive colleague experience, operational excellence, and compliance while supporting the development of our people and our culture.
This role provides strong HR generalist leadership across multiple disciplines including benefits administration, workforce planning, recruitment strategies, wage and salary administration including payroll partnership, colleague relations, compliance and safety, training and development, and equal opportunity initiatives. The AHRD supports both short- and long-term HR planning while executing resort-wide HR strategies that align with Miraval’s Life in Balance philosophy and Hyatt values. Hyatt develops Assistant Directors to progress into future Human Resources Director leadership roles.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Serve as a trusted HR partner to resort leaders and department managers, supporting day-to-day operations and long-term workforce planning.
Lead and support full-cycle recruitment strategies, workforce planning, and hiring initiatives to meet business demand and service excellence goals.
Provide hands-on guidance and support for employee relations matters including coaching, counseling, investigations, and workplace conflict resolution.
Conduct fair, impartial investigations and support resolution of workplace concerns.
Serve as backup support for payroll processing and timekeeping systems (Dimensions) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Support benefits administration, leave management coordination, and colleague education around Hyatt benefits programs.
Coordinate separations, exit interviews, and unemployment claims administration.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, Hyatt policies, and safety regulations while maintaining sound documentation practices.
Assist in the development and delivery of training programs, onboarding experiences, and leadership development initiatives aligned with colleague engagement and retention goals.
Support HR data tracking, reporting, audits, and operational metrics as requested.
Partner in the planning and execution of colleague appreciation, recognition programs, engagement initiatives, and wellbeing events across the resort.
Serve as a role model for Miraval and Hyatt service values including empathy, wellbeing, respect, integrity, experimentation, and inclusion.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience, preferably in hospitality, luxury, or service-driven environments.
- Full-cycle recruitment experience with proven ability to support active staffing strategies.
- Working knowledge of employee relations, coaching and counseling, wage administration, payroll coordination, benefits, recruitment, compliance, and training support.
- Strong understanding of federal and state employment law and workplace safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with operational leaders in a fast-paced, high-touch hospitality environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including professional presentation and public speaking abilities.
- High level of organizational skill and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and empathy.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, payroll/timekeeping systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Prior hospitality or luxury resort HR experience.
- Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or similar).
- Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) a plus.
