About the Role
We’re seeking a proactive, people-centered Part-Time HR Manager to lead and support our human resources operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and can balance hands-on administrative work with strategic HR oversight. You’ll help shape a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace while ensuring our HR processes run smoothly and comply with current laws and regulations.
Work days are Tuesday-Thursday with Tuesdays and Wednesdays in our New York office and Thursdays remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day HR operations, including employee onboarding, offboarding, and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and workplace practices.
- Support recruitment efforts by posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating hiring processes.
- Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; maintain and update employee handbook and policies as needed.
- Facilitate performance review cycles and support managers in addressing employee development or performance needs.
- Coordinate payroll changes with finance and ensure timely, accurate processing of employee updates.
- Support initiatives around company culture, employee engagement, diversity/inclusion efforts, and staff communications.
- Handle employee relations issues with discretion, fairness, and professionalism.
- Manage benefits administration (healthcare, PTO tracking, enrollment, renewals, and general employee support) through our Bamboo HR Portal.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of HR experience, ideally in a small to mid-size organization or nonprofit environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, handle sensitive information with confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment.
- Experience with HRIS platforms; familiarity with payroll systems preferred.
