Oxford Economics, a leading global economic forecasting and consulting firm, is seeking an experienced HR Manager to join our New York office. This is a standalone role overseeing all HR operations across the Americas, requiring a confident and capable HR professional who can manage day-to-day responsibilities independently while actively collaborating with our international HR team on global initiatives.
This position combines hands-on HR operations with strategic involvement in global projects, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both autonomy and cross-regional partnership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage end-to-end HR processes for the Americas region, including onboarding, employee changes, and offboarding
- Own monthly payroll processes and ensure accurate administration of employee benefits, including health insurance and 401(k) plans
- Serve as the primary HR contact for the Americas, providing support to managers and employees on all people-related matters
- Manage immigration processes, partnering with external counsel as needed
- Ensure compliance with US employment laws; familiarity with Canadian and Mexican labor regulations is a strong plus
- Handle employee relations matters with professionalism and discretion, advising managers in line with company policies and local laws
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders in the Americas, building strong relationships and influencing people decisions
- Support the implementation of global learning and development initiatives and roll out wellbeing programs regionally
- Help shape and apply HR policies and procedures consistently across the region
- Contribute to global HR projects and help drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 7 years' progressive HR experience, including generalist responsibilities across the employee lifecycle
- Strong HR operations background with experience in payroll and benefits administration
- In-depth knowledge of US employment law; Canadian and Mexican labor law experience is advantageous
- Proven experience managing employee relations cases and guiding managers through complex issues
- Confident working independently, managing a region with minimal supervision
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with senior leaders
- Experience supporting L&D and employee wellbeing programs
- Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
