Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a non-for-profit healthcare organization to recruit an Assistant Vice President of Human Resources (AVPHR). This individual is a strategic leader responsible for aligning HR strategies with business objectives across the system. This role leads in a matrixed environment, driving workforce strategy and ensuring operational excellence in HR service delivery. The AVPHR manages HR teams supporting a number of locations and works with VPHR and executive team to discuss business operations and human capital initiatives. This role provides leadership in building annual budgets and operating plans. The AVPHR works to integrate people into the full scope of business operations and supports the focus on leadership coaching and development, to include maintaining a team of high performing human resources professionals and organizational culture. The AVPHR functions as a strategic partner to VPHR and senior leadership providing counsel and advice to the executive teams, entity president/s and board.
Key Responsibilities:
- Align and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs in partnership with entity and senior leadership to support organizational mission and priorities.
- Contribute to departmental and system-wide goals while ensuring compliance with internal policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive and operational leaders on HR strategy, workforce planning, and organizational development.
- Lead HR operations, including goal setting, budgeting, and performance management. Coach, mentor, and develop HR team members to strengthen capability and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Partner across the system on initiatives related to employee engagement, retention, recruitment, DEI, and leadership development.
Qualifications:
- Ten plus years of progressive HR leadership experience in a large, multi-site, matrixed organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Masters preferred.
- Experience working in a shared services model.
- Expertise in change management.
- Proven track record of HR transformation.
