The HR Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the HR department at CryoWest, ensuring effective management of personnel records, recruitment processes, performance management, benefits administration, and policy enforcement. This role requires a strategic approach to support the organization’s goals, including collaborating with department heads and providing guidance to the HR team. The HR Manager will also ensure compliance with employment laws and serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations and development initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Lead day-to-day HR operations by providing strategic HR support and recommendations to management and employees.
● Develop, implement, and administer organizational policies in compliance with Federal, State, and local legislation.
● Interpret and enforce HR policies and procedures in accordance with the Employee Handbook.
● Oversee the processing, verification, and maintenance of personnel-related documentation, including staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, investigations, performance evaluations, classifications, and employee leaves of absence.
● Spearhead staffing and succession planning efforts.
● Manage Workers’ Compensation claims administration.
● Communicate company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees and job applicants.
● Compile, prepare, and analyze reports and documents to inform HR strategy.
● Maintain confidentiality and secure confidential records.
● Oversee onboarding, training, and development programs to enhance employee growth and performance.
● Evaluate employment applications to determine the qualifications or eligibility of applicants.
● Foster and maintain positive employee relations in a safe and productive work environment.
● Utilize Microsoft Office and HRIS systems efficiently.
● Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by senior management.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
● 5+ years of experience in HR management or related field with progressive HR responsibilities.
● Extensive knowledge of California Employment Law and Federal Employment Law.
● Strong leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.
● Proven ability to maintain interpersonal relationships and manage conflict.
● Exceptional multi-tasking and time management abilities.
● Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
● Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
● Experience with ADP or similar HRIS platforms is preferred.
