Position Summary
The HR Manager will play a key role in building and shaping our team. The HR Manager will oversee and direct the day-to-day functions of the Human Resources department, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, training and development, employee relations, and compliance. This position will lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding efforts, ensuring a seamless integration of new teams and departments while embedding company culture and values. In this role, you will partner closely with leaders across the organization to promote understanding, consistency, and effective implementation of HR policies and practices.
The ideal candidate is an energetic, servant leader with a passion for recruiting, galvanizing a team, translating company culture and supporting the growth and development of this facility from the ground up.
Skilled Duties/Responsibilities
Culture, Mission & Engagement
- Champion the mission, vision, and values of the organization through daily actions and communications.
- Build credibility across the organization by being visible, accessible, and approachable to all team members.
- Lead employee engagement and recognition initiatives to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
- Support organizational change by effectively communicating and guiding teams through transitions.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Partner with site leadership to understand staffing needs and design workforce strategies that support growth.
- Recruit, interview, and hire qualified candidates; collaborate with managers to identify role requirements and competencies.
- Drive retention strategies that attract and keep top talent.
Employee Development & Performance Management
- Provide leadership and support to the HR Generalist and Office Administrator.
- Coach and guide managers and supervisors on performance management, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
- Oversee training and development programs, ensuring compliance with mandatory requirements (AB Tech Customized Training Grant, annual anti-harassment, new hire).
HR Programs, Compliance & Policy
- Manage core HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave, performance management, and employee relations.
- Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and the employee handbook to ensure fairness and consistency.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Address employee inquiries, escalating complex or sensitive matters as needed.
- Oversee HR-related audits and required reporting.
HR Strategy & Analytics
- Monitor HR metrics (e.g., turnover, absenteeism, training effectiveness) and recommend improvements.
- Stay current with employment law, HR best practices, and emerging trends to keep the organization competitive.
- Partner with the Director of People & Culture on departmental budgets and strategic initiatives.
Food Safety And Quality Responsibilities
- Follow GMP policy when in the production facility and encourage your team to do the same.
- Understand our SQF policies relating to pest control, visitors, allergen management, and cleaning and sanitation.
- Demonstrate awareness of Management's Commitment to SQF and work towards Food Safety and Quality and help the company meet this commitment.
- If there is a problem that involves food quality and safety, report to the Quality Assurance Manager so that the CAPA (corrective action, preventative action) log may be filled out, the situation be investigated, and resolved with the goal of continuous improvement of food quality and safety.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency with or ability to learn the organization's HRIS system.
- Knowledge of employment- related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or organizational development.
- 5 + years of human resource management experience is preferred.
- SHRM-CP or PHR is a plus.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- 20% Travel
